KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Ambassador of Nepal to Belgium, Mr Lok Bahadur Thapa presented his Letters of Credence to the King of the Belgians, King Philippe, amidst a special official ceremony held at the Royal Laeken Castle in Brussels on Wednesday.
Following the credential ceremony, Ambassador Thapa had an audience with the Belgian monarch.
During the audience, the King of the Belgians congratulated Ambassador Thapa on his appointment and wished him success in further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Nepal and Belgium, the Embassy of Nepal in Brussels stated in a press release.
The Belgian king also recalled his fond memories of his visit to Nepal in 1998 as the Crown Prince. He noted that there had been sea changes in Nepal's political, economic as well as socio-cultural landscapes since then.
On the occasion, Ambassador Thapa conveyed the greetings and best wishes from President Bidya Devi Bhandari to His Majesty King Philippe. While expressing happiness over the state of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Nepal and Belgium, Ambassador Thapa mentioned that he would be making unremitting efforts to augment these relations to a new height during his tenure.
Mr Thapa is the sixth Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Belgium after the establishment of residential Embassy of Nepal in Brussels in 1992. RSS
