Nepal’s active COVID-19 casetally surpasses 35,000 as 2,548 new cases recorded on Sunday

Of 35,485 active cases of COVID-19 across the country, 10,383 are in the Valley

KATHMANDU, August 8: The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Nepal has reached 35,485 with 2,548 new cases of COVID-19 recorded on Sunday, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

Of the 12,378 tests conducted on Sunday, 2,548 turned out to be positive for COVID-19.

Similarly, 2,029 COVID-19 patients recovered and 55 died on the same day, according to the health ministry.

There are currently 802 COVID-19 patients in ICUs, 181 on ventilators, 31,963 in home isolation, 3,522 in institutional isolation and 475 in quarantine as of Sunday afternoon.

Likewise, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 951 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. Of them, 740 were detected in Kathmandu, 56 in Bhaktapur and 155 in Lalitpur districts. Of the 35,485 active cases of COVID-19 across the country, 10,383 are in the Valley.

There are currently 16 districts in Nepal with more than 500 active cases of COVID-19 each and 20 districts with more than 200 active cases each.
