KATHMANDU, August 5: Nepal recorded 912 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. As many as 529 of these cases were confirmed through the PCR method and 393 cases through the antigen method. Similarly, the country recorded 324 recoveries and one death from the virus on the day.
Out of 6,491 swab samples tested for COVID-19 on the day, 912 were positive for the virus, taking the nationwide infection tally to 989,350.
NAC repatriates 10,912 Nepalis from abroad
Currently, there are 5,804 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them, 5,587 are in self-isolation, 173 in institutional isolation and 42 in ICUs and two on ventilators. So far, the virus has killed 11,970 people across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 390 cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Among them, 321 were reported in Kathmandu, 54 in Lalitpur and 15 in Bhaktapur districts. A total of 49,539,526 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country so far.
