Nepal remains winless in Blind Cricket World Cup

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Nepal conceded another loss in the ongoing fifth edition of the Blind Cricket World Cup in a match held at Eden Garden cricket ground in Dubai.

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Nepal conceded another loss in the ongoing fifth edition of the Blind Cricket World Cup in a match held at Eden Garden cricket ground in Dubai. Sri Lanka defeated Nepal by 339 runs to make it three losses in as many matches for Nepal. 


Nepal was bundled out for 155 runs in the 34th over chasing the mountainous target of 495 runs set by Sri Lanka who won the toss and elected to bat first. None of the Nepal batsmen could make any significant contribution in the match.

Sri Lankan batsman Dimuthu Rabindra stood tall making unbeaten 170 runs complemented by skipper Chandana Deshapriya’s unbeaten 119 runs. Sri Lanka scored 495 runs in their 40 overs losing five wickets. Dimuthu was crowned man of the match for his momentous effort.


This is Nepal’s three losses in three matches in the tournament previously losing to Bangladesh by four wickets on Wednesday and co-host nation Pakistan by 9 wickets on Tuesday. Both these matches were played in Jinnah Stadium of Gujranwala, Pakistan. However, since the teams participating in the tournament include test-playing nations such as Australia, England and India. These three teams only agreed to play in UAE as they refused to play in Pakistan citing security reasons. 


Only Bangladesh and Nepal agreed to play in Pakistan. Nepal will face India on Sunday and Australia on Monday. The final of the tournament will be held on January 19 in Sharjah.
