Nepal records 944 new cases, 297 recoveries and no death on Saturday

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Nepal recorded 944 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday along with 297 recoveries and zero deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

As many as 13,264 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the same day. Of them, 696 PCR and 248 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 6,235 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 5,631 are in home isolation, 509 in institutional isolation, 81 in ICUs, and 14 on ventilators. Similarly, 113 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,602 people have died of viral infection across the country.

On Saturday, Kathmandu Valley recorded 418 cases of the virus. Of them, 362 were recorded in Kathmandu, 25 in Bhaktapur, and 94 in Lalitpur districts.
