KATHMANDU, August 22: According to the data issued by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal registered 658 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, along with 456 recoveries and one death from the virus.

As many as 6,643 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 405 PCR and 253 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the virus.
Across the nation, there are now 4,346 active cases of COVID-19. Of them, 4,134 are isolated by themselves, 162 are institutionalized, 50 are in intensive care units, and one is on a ventilator. So far, 11,993 people have died of the viral disease nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 242 cases of COVID-19 on Monday. Of them, 183 cases were recorded in Kathmandu, 13 in Bhaktapur, and 46 in Lalitpur districts.
