KATHMANDU, Jan 16: Nepal recorded 4,961 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday along with 435 recoveries and three deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 15,131 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 4,534 PCR and 427 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.
There are currently 25,831 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 24,584 are in home isolation, 1,096 in institutional isolation, 122 in ICUs, and 29 on ventilators. Similarly, 121 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,620 people have died of the viral infection across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 3,347 cases of the virus on Sunday. Of them, 2,545 were recorded in Kathmandu, 328 in Bhaktapur, and 474 in Lalitpur districts.
