Nepal records 3,042 new cases, 2,244 recoveries and 26 deaths on Friday

KATHMANDU, August 20: Nepal recorded 3,042 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, alongwith 2,244 recoveries and 26 deaths, according to the latest information by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). With this, Nepal’s death tally has reached 10,455.

As many as 17,654 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Friday. Of them, 2,079 PCR tests and 963 antigen tests turned out to be positive for COVID-19.

There are currently 41,407 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them, 37,114 are in home isolation, 3,386 are in institutional isolation, 739 are in ICU’s and 168 on ventilators.

Likewise, the Kathmandu valley recorded 898 cases of COVID-19 on the same day. Of them, 604 were recorded in Kathmandu, 187 in Lalitpur and 107 in Bhaktapur districts. So far, 3,069 people have succumbed to COVID-19 inside the Kathmandu Valley alone.
