ILLAM, Nov 20: CPN-UML Vice Chairman and Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang has said that the country is moving forward in the right direction. He said that he believed that the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections held for the second time after the promulgation of the new constitution would take the country to a right direction.
Nembang, who is also a candidate for the Ilam-2 of the House of Representatives, made the remarks after casting his vote at polling station 'C' of the Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus in his home district of Ilam, where he studied as a student. He said that a good foundation has been laid down for the implementation of the constitution in the country and the Nepali people are now empowered.
"The constitution is being implemented. There is no need to protest for change now. The constitution can be amended as necessary by taking the people's vote," he said, "But economic, social and cultural changes are equally necessary. Now, the elected representatives and the government must drive the country in that direction."
