KATHMANDU, Jan 15: Nepal suffered the fourth loss in a row on Sunday when it conceded an 8-wicket defeat at the hands of India in the ongoing fifth edition of Blind Cricket World Cup. The match was played at Oval Cricket Ground in Ajman, Dubai.
Nepal had already lost chance of progressing to the next round after losing to Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka in previous three group stage matches.
Nepal faces fourth defeat in a row
Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first. After a steady start of 33 runs in 9 overs, Nepal lost three wickets in quick succession to be reduced to 47 for 3 in the 12th over. Nepal kept losing wickets in equal interval, eventually getting all out for 156 runs in the 38th over. Nepal’s in-form batsman Padam Badela was forced retired out due to an injury. Bharat Thapa top scored for Nepal with 35 runs to his name.
India completed the chase in the 15th over by eight wickets to stay unbeaten in the tournament. Nepal is at bottom of the points table with no points to its name. India is on top of the table followed by Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have qualified for the semifinal matches. Nepal will face Australia in the final group stage match of the World Cup on Monday.
