Various efforts are being put forward in making this campaign successful. Moreover, it’s not new to see international media writing about tourism in Nepal. Recently, a UK based travel magazine ‘Wanderlust’ listed Nepal in ‘The top 15 places you need to visit in 2019’. They appreciated the conservation efforts made by the country. The magazine credits the ‘conservation efforts’ of the national parks as the major reason to visit Nepal. Lauding about the efforts made by the country in terms of wildlife conservation the magazine wrote: “Explore a conservation success story”.  Further shedding light on this, the magazine mentions, “With news that since 1970 humanity has wiped out 60% of animal life on the planet (WWF), we’re pleased to see Nepal bucking the trend. As of late 2018, Bengal tiger numbers here have risen to around 235, up from an estimate of 120 individuals in 2009. The total count of the animal across the world is only about 4,000. Coupled with the rise in one-horned rhino at Chitwan National Park and the upgrade of Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve to National Park status in 2017, Nepal is fast becoming a wildlife haven.”

Speaking about the benefits of being listed in the magazine, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, Deepak Raj Joshi said, “Wanderlust’ is one of the prestigious travel magazines. It will obviously help in promoting and increasing tourism in the country.” The magazine has attributed the efforts made for wildlife conservation in the country. Joshi shared that earlier, wildlife was not prioritized in tourism. But the magazine has described it so well and this has advantages for us, as it promotes the conservation efforts made. It will help to increase the tourism business as well.
