KATHMANDU, August 12: Ambassador of China to Nepal Hou Yanqi paid a courtesy call on Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota on Friday. 

In the meeting held at the Speaker's official residence in Lainchaur, the relations between the two countries and various issues of mutual interests were discussed.

Speaker Sapkota praised China's achievements in poverty alleviation in the recent decade, the initiatives taken to control the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the country’s maturity in its neighborhood policy and international diplomacy, according to the Personal Secretariat of Speaker Sapkota.

While stating that Nepal is always committed to the one-China policy, Speaker Sapkota also said that Nepal is always on alert and aware to not allowing Nepali land to be used against any neighboring countries. He mentioned that everyone should respect the sovereignty of any country and the policy of non-interference in internal affairs in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of Panchsheel.

In the meeting, Ambassador Hou Yanqi said that Nepal is a good neighbor of China and highly praises Nepal's commitment to the One-China policy. She said that China has always strongly supported the independence, sovereignty and national integrity of Nepal.

Ambassador Hou also expressed her commitment to China's continued support and cooperation in Nepal's development and prosperity in the future.
