Nepal-India Border Coordination meeting concludes

KATHMANDU, March 29: The Nepal-India Border Coordination meeting concluded at the office of the 66th battalion of Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) Camp at Nautanwa in Uttar Pradesh State of India on Tuesday. 

The meeting dwelt on security concerns, integrated checkpoint (ICP), regular repair of the border pillars in the bordering areas and combating smuggling of goods and narcotic drugs among others, said Ramchandra Aryal, assistant chief district officer of Rupandehi. 

The problems seen in the construction of the ICP figured in the meeting, said Aryal, adding that the bidding process for the ICP at Belahiya had been completed and foundation stone would be laid soon for the same. 

Similarly, Satyendra Kumar, District Magistrate of Maharajganj district in India shared that they sought Nepal's cooperation in maintaining law and order in the upcoming municipality election in India.

The Indian side during the meeting urged the Nepali side to take more caution in the bordering area in view of the upcoming municipal election while the Nepali side pledged full cooperation for the same.
