KATHMANDU, March 14: The fifth edition of Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival (NHRIFF) will commence on Thursday at Nepal Tourism Board with the screening of ‘Devaki’, a film by Devaki Bista.
NHRIFF will be held till March 19 and more than 90 films from 38 different countries are scheduled to be screened. The film festival will exhibit wide spectrum of fiction, documentary, narrative from different parts of the world. The best documentary and the best fiction film in national and international category will be awarded with the cash prize of Rs.40, 000.
The festival will also include panel discussion among film enthusiast, film makers, film critics, artists and journalists on human rights and Nepali cinema on Friday and internationalization of Nepali cinema on Saturday.
Kamal Raj Sikdel, UNDP’s communication analyst said, “The main objective of this festival is to encourage creativity of young generation.” This festival will also persuade film makers from around the world to discuss on human rights and how human rights can be promoted through visual aspect.
