Nepal hosting adventure and mountaineering expo in March

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: House of Rajkarnicar is organizing the Global Adventure and Mountaineering Conference and Expo 2017 (GAMCE) in Kathmandu from March 31 to April 2, 2017.

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: House of Rajkarnicar is organizing the Global Adventure and Mountaineering Conference and Expo 2017 (GAMCE) in Kathmandu from March 31 to April 2, 2017.


Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the organizer also informed that GAMCE 2017 will be organized under the patronage of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Nepal Mountaineering Association, Indian Mountaineering Association and China Mountaineering Association. The conference will focus on three parallel tracks: adventure as sports, adventure as tourism and adventure in the context of the environment, according to the organizers.


“GAMCE is a monumental event which is a combination of both conference and expo,” Birendra Rajkarnicar, managing director of House of Rajkarnicar, said. “The expo will consist of adventure travel services, expedition travel services, adventures sports gear and accessories, mountaineering harshness, adventure sportswear and accessories, among others.”

The conference and expo also aims to give something back to the Himalayas. “These kinds of events and expo will help a lot in exchanging ideas and also help in commercial exchange. It will help to create a new trade in the world tourism market,” Lisa Choegyal, co-chairman of GAMCE- Technical Committee, said.


“As Nepal is the epicenter of future advantage growth, it has been chosen as the host country primarily looking at the hard business facts. International departures from emerging economies are expected to jump from 204 million to 541 million in 2030, taking 57% share of the adventure travel market,” the organizer said in a statement. 


The GAMCE 2017 is supported by Turkish Airlines as the Title Sponsor and Official Airlines.


Similarly, WWF Nepal is Knowledge Partner of the event. The event is endorsed by UIAA, UAA, Adventure Tour Operators of India and entire Nepali tourism industry, including Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Association of Tours and Travel Agents (NATTA) and the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN). It is promoted by number of publications like Outside, Backpaper, Action Asia, The Outdoor Journal, Intrepid Explorer and Lide and Hory.


About 200 participants and buyers are expected to attend the Conference and Expo GAMCE 2017.
