Nepal faces defeat in practice match

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Nepali women's cricket was defeated by Thailand women's team by 19 runs in a practice match held in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday. 

Winning the toss, the Thai team elected to bat first and scored 82/7 in the 20-over format match and bowled out Nepal for 63 runs in 19.1 overs.  

Thailand's seventh-order batswomen Chanida Sutthiruang scored the highest 35 runs for Thailand. Similarly, opener Nattakan Chantham and Sainammin Saenya (10 runs each) were other players to contribute in double digit figures. Nepali bowlers Saraswati Chaudhary, Sita Rana Magar and Karuna Bhandari claimed two wickets each.  

In Nepal's run chase, fifth-order batswoman Nary Thapa Magar was the only Nepali batswomen to contribute in double digit. She scored 17 off 23 deliveries for Nepal, which lost its other players too cheaply. 

Nepali women's cricket team is currently in Bangkok to take part in Women's Asia Cup 2016 to be held from November 26 to December 4.
