Nepal detects 1,382 new COVID-19 cases, recovery rate stands at 94.1 percent

The Kathmandu Valley alone reported 645 COVID-19 deaths

KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Officials at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed 1,382 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease.

As many as 836 males and 546 females were diagnosed with the flu-like infection through the 8,947 PCR tests carried out at 75 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. With this, the total number of detected cases in the country has advanced to 243,377.

The ministry shared that 94.1 percent patients – 229,054 – have so far recovered from the disease while 1,637 people have succumbed to the viral infection since May 16. Nepal on Tuesday reported 23 fatalities and 1,621 recoveries.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley added 594 new COVID-19 cases to take the case tally in the federal capital of the country to 113,498. The most populous city in the country has so far witnessed 645 fatalities linked with the COVID-19 infection.
