KATHMANDU, July 26: Nepal has defeated Maldives in the opening match under the SAFF U-20 football Championship.
Nepal started with a win by defeating Maldives 4-0 in the match held on Monday at Kalinga Stadium at Bhubaneswar, India.
Dipesh Gurung, Sugam Suwal, Kritish Ratna Chhunju and Managya Nakarmi scored one goal each in the victory of Nepal. With this victory, Nepal has collected three points.
Hosts India, Nepal, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are participating in the championship. Nepal will play its second match against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
