KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Nepal advanced to the semi-finals of the SAFF U-20 Championship as the Group ‘A’ winner after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bangladesh on Thursday.

Despite the loss, Bangladesh secured second place in the group and also progressed to the semi-finals. Sri Lanka, the third team in the group, has been eliminated from the tournament.

The semi-finalists from Group ‘B’ are yet to be determined, with India, Bhutan, and the Maldives all still in contention. The outcome of Friday’s match between India and the Maldives will decide the remaining spot in the semi-finals.
