Nepal beats Bhutan 4-1 in penalty shootout to advance to the final of SAFF U-20 Championship

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Nepal reached the final of the SAFF U-20 Championship after defeating Bhutan in a penalty shootout in the first semi-final match held at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Nepal reached the final of the SAFF U-20 Championship after defeating Bhutan in a penalty shootout in the first semi-final match held at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur on Sunday.


Nepal defeated Bhutan 4-1 in tie-breaker after the match ended up in a 1-1 draw within the regular time.

The first half of the match remained goalless as hosts Nepal and Bhutan could not score any goal. In the second half of the regular 90 minutes of the match, Jetson Dorjee of Bhutan gave the visitors the lead. In response, Nirajan Dhami of Nepal scored an equalizer for hosts Nepal.  


Nepal will next face the winner of the second semi-final between India and Bangladesh. The second semi-final is scheduled for Monday while the final will be held at the Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday.
