Nepal and Sri Lanka discuss strengthening regional cooperation in SAARC and BIMSTEC

KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud and his Sri Lankan counterpart, Mohammad Uvais Mohammad Ali Sabry, discussed strengthening SAARC and BIMSTEC.


Foreign Minister Saud stated that during the discussion between the two ministers in Kathmandu on Thursday, they focused on enhancing the regional organizations SAARC and BIMSTEC. He mentioned that the conversation included a review of bilateral relations, trade, investment, connectivity, tourism, culture, education, defense, and immigration.

"As this is our joint commission meeting, serious and cordial discussions were held on various aspects of bilateral relations, including the review of trade and investment, connectivity, tourism, culture, education, defense, and immigration," he explained.


During the press conference following the meeting, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Sabry shared that there was a discussion on moving forward with a special emphasis on regional programs, including SAARC and BIMSTEC. He highlighted the discussion of increased cooperation between Nepal and Sri Lanka for tourism promotion.
