KATHMANDU, May 1: Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) has applauded the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC) to demolish the illegal structures around Fewa Lake.
A joint bench of justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Om Prakash Mishra, on Sunday, ordered to demolish the illegal structures around the Fewa Lake.
NEFEJ in its statement issued on Tuesday hoped the order from the apex court would stop the further encroachment of the shores of Fewa Lake.
“The government should immediately execute the Supreme Court order as it does not have any option other than implementing the court verdict,” read the statement.
Stating that all three federal, provincial and local governments are equally responsible to stop the encroachment and to protect Fewa Lake, NEFEJ has urged the government to retain the beauty of the lake by implementing the verdict.
