Nearly 60,000 persons undergo COVID-19 tests across the country: MoHP

KATHMANDU, April 29: As many as 57,189 persons have undergone COVID-19 tests as of Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Population said.

At a regular press briefing, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Bikash Devkota shared the figure about the nationwide coronavirus tests.

According to him, 11,524 have undergone tests through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method and 45,665 through Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method. "Of the total tests, 2367 were carried out in the past 24 hours," Devkota said.

As many as 22,901 suspected coronavirus patients are under quarantine in various parts of the country. Another 87 suspected patients are in isolation while 310 so far are on red zone, according to Devkota.

"As of today, the country has 57 coronavirus with three new confirmed during the test through PCR method at National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, earlier this afternoon," he shared.

According to him, the two males aged 43 and another 31-year-old man from Parsa tested positive for coronavirus. The infected persons are receiving treatment at Narayani Sub-regional hospital in Birgunj, according to him.
