URLABARI, Jan 19: As the campaign to prevent leakages of electricity intensifies, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Biratnagar on Wednesday arrested 91 persons for power hooking. 



They were arrested for hooking the electric poles to use the power for irrigation purposes and in their residences, Office Chief Shambhu Kusiyat said. The authorities also confiscated 140 television sets, 17 refrigerators, 30 sets of Dish Home appliances and 328 other equipment that were being brought into use through the stolen electricity. 



The campaign has been successful in collecting more than Rs 1.1 million in revenue in the past three months. The NEA, Biratnagar is taking action against three to four persons on a daily basis for power hooking. 



The Arun Cinema Hall was slapped a fine of Rs 134,000, the highest fine for power hooking yet in Biratnagar. RSS
