KATHMANDU, Oct 6: In a sign of rapprochement with disgruntled factions in the party, chairmen duo of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal have decided to hold the party's secretariat meeting on Sunday.
The decision to hold the secretariat meeting to address the grievances of the party's Madhav Nepal faction was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Oli and Chairman Dahal at Oli's official residence in Baluwatar Friday.
According to Dahal's Press Adviser Bishnu Sapkota, the two leaders agreed to convene the party's central secretariat meeting on Sunday. During the meeting, Oli and Dahal held discussions on a wide range of contemporary political issues including finalizing the party's unification process at the district level. The two chairmen reportedly agreed to settle ongoing disputes regarding the party's unification at the district level at the earliest.
The meeting also dwelled on various issues including the performance of the government. Oli had also shared the outcomes of his visit to New York and Costa Rica during the meeting that lasted almost for three hours.
This was the first meeting between the two chairmen since Prime Minister Oli returned home Thursday after participating in the 73rd United Nations General Assembly held in New York.
