KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Narayan Kaji Shrestha has been elected a member of the National Assembly from Gandaki Province.

According to the voting results made public by the Election Commission, Shrestha emerged victorious garnering 3,462 votes defeating his rival with a margin of 1,218 votes. His nearest rival Surya Prasad Regmi of the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) received 2,244 votes.

In the polls concluded today, he had registered his candidacy under the ‘Others’ category.

Shrestha was defeated by then Naya Shakti Party Nepal coordinator and former Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai  from Gorkha-2 in the elections of House of Representatives in 2017.
