The former prime minister often reaches Sukute Beach for relax when he is embroiled with some political tension. Dahal's visit to Sukute comes at a time when the NCP is embroiled with intra-party feud after Prime Minister and chairperson KP Sharma Oli turned down the NCP central secretariat's decision to nominate party vice chairperson Bamdev Gautam for the post of National Assembly member.

Dahal and his family members will be staying here tonight. He is not going to meet his party cadres during his stay here, according to NCP's district leaders. On Saturday, Dahal is scheduled to inaugurate Sukute Mahotsab, a local fair.
