Ncell commemorates 18th anniversary with green initiative in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: In celebration of its 18th anniversary, Ncell Axiata Limited has joined hands with the Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) to embark on a mission to enhance the greenery of the Kathmandu Valley. Under this collaborative effort, Ncell helped in planting over 200 trees along the Bagmati Corridor in Ward 1 of LMC.

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: In celebration of its 18th anniversary, Ncell Axiata Limited has joined hands with the Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) to embark on a mission to enhance the greenery of the Kathmandu Valley. Under this collaborative effort, Ncell helped in planting over 200 trees along the Bagmati Corridor in Ward 1 of LMC.


This green initiative is a testament to Ncell's steadfast commitment to fostering a clean and green urban landscape, contributing not only to the health and well-being of the local community but also aligning with Ncell's climate action objectives, Ncell said in a statement. It further bolsters the government and city's stride towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the environmental domain, added Ncell.


According to the company, this initiative represents a step towards more sustainable projects, aimed at creating enduring positive impacts on a national scale.

Jabbor Kayumov, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of Ncell, along with Chiri Babu Maharjan, Mayor of LMC, came together on Thursday to plant the trees, symbolizing their joint commitment to this green endeavor.


Expressing his views regarding the tree plantation program, Jabbor Kayumov emphasized Ncell's role as a responsible operator, deeply committed to giving back to society, and highlighted the company's dedication to environmental and climate action, in line with Ncell's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavors and the Axiata Group's Environment, Society, and Governance (ESG) Framework.


Mayor Maharjan of LMC expressed gratitude towards Ncell for their collaborative efforts over the past two years in various social responsibility initiatives. He thanked Ncell for the recent tree plantation in Bagmati Corridor and assured continued support for such commendable causes.


Ncell, in collaboration with the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation (DoFSC) and LMC, has taken the responsibility of nurturing and maintaining greenery in the Green Belt area of the Ring Road, further solidifying their commitment to a sustainable future.


Aligned with the 'Here for You' theme, several other activities and events are planned as part of the extended anniversary celebrations. These include health camps in areas with low human development indices, blood donation drives, friendly football matches at Lainchaur Ground, and celebrity visits to Ncell Centres to interact with customers, among other events.


With an investment of more than Rs 1.80 billion in various social projects since its inception, Ncell has been a significant contributor to socio-economic development. The company said its primary focus on health, education, and environment reflects its commitment to three core areas, with the aim of creating a positive and lasting impact on Nepali society.
