KATHMANDU, Nov 18: The Nepali Congress (NC) will fly its party flag at half-mast at its central office for two days, on November 18 and 19, to mourn the passing of former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana.
Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel announced in a statement that the central office will remain closed on November 19, Tuesday, as part of the mourning period. This decision was made following an emergency central committee meeting of the NC held on Monday, where a condolence resolution was passed.

Former Speaker Dhungana, aged 83, passed away on November 17 at the Frontline Hospital in Old Baneshwor. Dhungana was a prominent figure in Nepal’s democratic and republican movements and was elected from Kathmandu (2) Constituency in the 1994 general election. He served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2048 BS to 2051 BS.
