KATHMANDU, May 25: The Nepali Congress has decided to finalize its candidates for the second-phase local-level election on June 14 from Province Nos. 1 and 7 on Friday.
A meeting of the office-bearers, former office-bearers and the senior leaders of the party held at the party's central office, Sanepa today made this decision, NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel informed RSS.
Poudel said another meeting of the party office-bearers, former office-bearers and senior leaders would be convened on Friday to discuss on the candidacies from Province Nos. 2 and 5.
The Nepali Congress has authorized its regional election working committees to decide on the candidacy in the municipalities and rural municipalities under the regions. The district working committee decides on the candidacies if the regional committees are not able to and the central working committee takes the final decision if the district committees also fail in this.
The group comprising the party office-bearers, former office-bearers and senior leaders decides on the topics referred to the central committee.
Party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, general secretary Dr. Shashanka Koirala, treasurer Sitadevi Yadav, former general secretaries Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Prasad Sitaula were among the leaders who participated in the meeting today. RSS
