KATHMANDU, Nov 6: The main opposition party Nepali Congress has decided to field Khemraj Poudel to contest the by-election from Kaski-2.
A meeting of the party’s office-bearers held at the residence of President Sher Bahadur Deuba at Budhanilkantha on Wednesday decided to nominate Poudel for the by-poll which is scheduled to be held on November 30.
Kaski-2 has remained vacant following the demise of the then Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari in a helicopter crash in Taplejung on February 27 this year. Late Adhikari won 2017 general elections representing the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
Earlier, the ruling NCP had nominated the spouse of Late Adhikari Bidhya Bhattarai.
