KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD) and Nepal Students' Union (NSU), the two sister wings of the main opposition party Nepali Congress, on Friday staged demonstration against the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)'s move to implicate their leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchadar in the notorious Lalita Niwas land scam.

Addressing the demonstration held in the capital, NTD chairperson Jit Jung Basnet and NSU chairperson Rajiv Dhungana accused the CIAA of bias arguing that the anti-graft body only implicated those who are in not power.

"High-profile individuals including ruling Nepal Communist Party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Bishnu Poudel who were connected to the scam are not implicated in this case. Is not it a CIAA's bias?" Basnet said during the protest. He claimed that the CIAA is acting like the sister wing of the ruling NCP.

"It is better to run the CIAA headquarters from Baluwatar (the prime minister's official residence) itself," he said accusing the CIAA of working at the behest of the government. Chairperson Dhungana warned the government of launching movement against the government if it continued to act against the people.

On Wednesday, the CIAA had filed a charge-sheet against 175 individuals, including some erstwhile bigwigs, at the Special Court, accusing them of involvement in illegally registering Lalita Niwas land in the names of various individuals.
