KATHMANDU, March 10: The Nepali Congress (NC)’s proposal to postpone the election of the National Assembly chairperson scheduled for March 12 has been rejected.
On Sunday morning, in the meeting of all parties represented in the National Assembly, which was held at the Parliament House, New Baneshwar, Krishna Sitaula, the leader of the NC parliamentary party in the National Assembly, proposed postponing the election of the chairperson by a few days. However, after the other parties failed to reach an agreement on the NC’s proposal, the election of the chairman will be held on March 12 as scheduled.

Earlier, in the agenda approved by the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee on Working Arrangements of the National Assembly, it was mentioned that the date and time of the election of the chairperson of the National Assembly will be determined on March 10 and the election will be held on March 12.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, 'the agenda has been set, including the decision to hold elections within the stipulated time.' The National Assembly meeting was scheduled for today, Sunday, at 1:09 PM, where the date for the election of the chairman will be announced.
