KATHMANDU, March 5: A parliamentary party meeting of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) is currently underway. According to NC’s parliamentary party, the meeting began at 1PM at Lhotse Hall, Federal Parliament building, New Baneshwar.
The meeting is taking place two days before a meeting of the House of Representatives. According to NC leaders, the meeting will discuss the party's strategy amid the unfolding political developments in the aftermath of the restoration of parliament some two weeks ago.
Even as the Dahal-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party is preparing to file a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the lower house of parliament, the NC is yet to decide whether to support the move.
It is learnt that the NC is closely observing the NCP's formal split, legally, so that it can maintain its upper hand in national politics and take initiatives to form a new government under its leadership after Oli is forced to step down in the coming days.
