Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Deputy General Secretaries Barshaman Pun and Shakti Basnet were present at the meeting. The NC delegation included Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and senior leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

Prior to the meeting with NC, the Maoist Centre had held discussions with other opposition parties. Maoist Chair Prachanda had also met NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday.

Opposition parties have been demanding a parliamentary investigation committee over the visit visa issue. However, the ruling coalition remains unwilling to proceed with the proposal.

Since the controversy surfaced on May 27, the House of Representatives has remained disrupted. Although the opposition allowed the federal budget to be presented on May 29, deliberations on the budget have stalled since.
