POKHARA, Aug 15: Police have arrested Lekhnath City President of Nepali Congress (NC) Rajendramani Lamichhane on Saturday on the charge of murdering local leader of the party Ramji Paudel aka Badal.
Kaski Police Chief SP Hari Bahadur Pal confirmed the arrest.

“We have arrested Lamichhane from Pokhara for his alleged involvement in the murder,” he said, “Police took the action after the deceased's family filed a report categorically mentioning the accused.”
Earlier on Friday, police had arrested Area Chairman of Lekhnath-16 Raju Ranabhat. SP Pal added three other accused are on the run and police are searching them.
Paudel was found dead here at Gagangauda of Lekhnath Municipality-13 on Friday morning. Paudel had participated in a municipality level meeting of the party late on Thursday night.
He had left the meeting at around 11 pm last night.
According to preliminary police report, leader Badal might have been thrashed to death by a group of people on his way to his house after the meeting.
NC cadres close to him have accused the dissident faction of the party of murdering leader Badal.
Meanwhile, NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretary Prakash Man Singh arrived here today to pay last respect to the deceased leader at the party office.
They later reached the Lekhnath-based house of the leader to meet the mourning family members.
On the occasion, Deuba said he is saddened by the death of Paudel.
“The death has caused immense loss to the party,” he said, adding that he will make sure that the guilty are brought to book.
