KATHMANDU, May 2: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed sorrow over the loss of property in a massive fire in Phungling of Taplejung district late Friday evening. 

Issuing a press release, NC President Sher Bhadur Deuba expressed his sympathy for the families who lost their homes and other property to the fire. 

Seven houses were completely destroyed by the fire which had spread up to the NC office. The fire was brought under control through joint efforts of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepali Army personnel and the locals two hours later. No human casualty was reported.

The party has also urged the Nepal government to provide adequate compensation and relief to the families whose homes and property were gutted in the fire at the earliest possible.
