Earlier on Wednesday, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba had reiterated his commitment to hold the party's 14th general convention within the scheduled date.
Deuba's statement to hold the general convention within the stipulated date comes amid concerns raised by the rival faction within the party that he is still planning to extend his term as president by deferring the general convention. Deuba in a statement clarified that he was committed to holding the general convention within the stipulated date in an apparent bid to allay their concerns.
With the latest decision, the 14th General Convention has been deferred by nine days. As per the revised calendar of events, the party plans to complete distribution of active membership by August 4 to the central election committee and publish the final list of active members on August 8.
