KATHMANDU, Jan 28: Nepali Congress (NC) has called a virtual meeting of the Central Committee on Friday at 3 PM. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a CWC meeting to give full shape to the party’s Central Work Performance Committee amid criticisms that the NC is still functioning at the whims of party president without forming the bodies as per the statute.

In the meeting, President Deuba is proposing names of the leaders in the CWC on the basis of seniority. Giving information that President Deuba will propose the names of some leaders including the former office bearers in the Work Performance Committee, the source said, "The work performance committee will not get its complete shape on Friday."

There is an arrangement for the office bearers of the party to be ex-officio members in the executive committee. The party spokesperson and the leader of the parliamentary party will also be an ex-officio member of the Central Work Performance Committee.

The party statute gives the party president the right to propose 31 more members from among the members of the central committee to be nominated as members of the Work Performance Committee. Article 23 of 2 of the party statute states that the proposal has to be approved by the Central Committee.

There is a provision in the statute that the meeting of the Central Work Performance Committee should be held at least once a month.
