ROLPA, May 10: As many as two members of the Nepali Congress (NC) were injured after some cadres of CPN (Maoist Center) attacked them with sharp weapons including a Khukuri in Gangadev Rural Municipality at around 8PM on Monday.

Ward Chairperson Man Bahadur Budha, 30, and Kamal Budha, 20, were attacked by cadres of Young Communist League (YCL), which is the youth wing of the CPN (Maoist Center). Man Bahadur has been taken to Nepalgunj from Dang Hospital for further treatment as his health condition is still critical.

Rolpa chief of police and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Binod Ghimire said, “The police have received information about the identity of the attacker and a team has been mobilized. “The injured have been taken to Nepalgunj. More information regarding the patient's condition will be known after he is treated,” DSP Ghimire said.

Meanwhile, NC President of Lumbini Province, Amar Singh Pun has accused the administration of not creating a conducive environment. “If the police administration does not show interest in time, we will not be able to remain silent," Pun said. "Public security is being neglected,” he added. Amid fierce competition seen between the NC, CPN (Maoist Center), UML and Biplav-led CPN candidates in the rural municipality, security risks were assessed from the beginning.
