SINDHUPALCHOWK, May 18: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Aitaman Tamang has been elected as the chairman of Melamchi Municipality.
Tamang received a total of 11,258 votes while his closest rival Bal Krishna Deuja received a total of 11,165 votes.
In the post of deputy mayor, NC candidate Uma Pradhan was elected securing 10,164 votes. Her closest rival Kumari Tamang of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) received 8,356 votes. NC and RPP had formed an electoral alliance in the municipality.
