NEPALGUNJ, Sept 23: Taking the anti-constitution protests by some ruling parties as a 'serious exception', Nepali Congress (NC) leader Bishwa Prakash Sharma has accused the government of failing to maintain chain of command in the government.

The  accusation from Sharma, who is also the spokesperson for the main opposition party, comes after even some ruling Madhes-based parties stood against the constitution. They marked Ashok 3 (September 19), the Constitution Day, as 'black day' and held rallies against the constitution in the districts of the southern plains.

"Members of cabinet and chief ministers of province contested the elections as per the constitution. They formed governments, have expensive cars, wave red flags but why are they observing the constitution day as 'black day'?" questioned Sharma, adding, " I don't want to criticize any particular party but who is responsible for maintaining the chain of command in this regard?

According to him, the situation of peace and security has worsened further in the first six months of the new government led by Nepal Communist Party (NCP). He criticized the government for failing to curb the increasing rape cases and book the culprits. Sharma blamed  the current government for failing to implement and obey the constitution.

Sharma claimed that the popularity of current government is decreasing with each passing day. Speaking at a press conference organized by Nepal Press Union, Banke, Sharma suggested to the government to 'correct it before it's too late'. He also claimed that the decreasing popularity of NCP would be proved when senior leader of NCP Bandev Gautam will contest the election.

"It would be better if we could clearly know from where Gautam will be contesting the election," said Sharma, adding," We are desperate to prove that NCP has lost its grip." Not just that, he also stated that government has no authority to deprive the people of their right to conduct peaceful protests and suppress journalists.
