KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Nepal Police have set up high security arrangements for the 14th National General Convention of the Nepali Congress starting today. Spokesperson for Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar said that necessary security arrangements have been made for the convention.
According to him, the police have increased security vigilance in all the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley. Additional teams have also been deployed.
Security beefed up in Nepal-India border area
Security arrangements have been made in the Kathmandu Valley today mainly under the leadership of the Metropolitan Police Office. Spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Office, Superintendent of Police Sushil Singh Rathore said that more than 5,000 police personnel have been deployed focusing on the general convention alone.
Security has been beefed up at the venue in three perimeters and police have been deployed in separate perimeters for roundabouts and valley entrances. He said that testing and necessary security arrangements have been made using the technology at the entry point of the venue.
CCTV cameras have been installed at various places and arrangements have been made for their control and monitoring by the Metropolitan Police Office and the Municipal Police. According to Spokesperson Rathore, drone cameras will be used for surveillance. Security personnel have been deployed round the clock at Sundhara, Thamel and other places where the delegates have been placed for the convention.
Similarly, separate security arrangements have been made for VVIP and VIP routes. Police in plain clothes have been mobilized for the security of the convention. Necessary additional support teams have also been arranged.
