KATHMANDU Nov 18: The National Women Commission Bill, 2073 has been tabled in the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament today.

Three lawmakers including Prem Suwal, had given objection notice regarding the provision in the bill related to the qualifications for appointment as the Commission's office-bearers. However, the meeting rejected the notice.

Replying to the objection notice, Minister for Law and Justice Ajaya Shankar Nayak on behalf the Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, stated that the bill has been brought as it was necessary to transform the commission into a constitutional commission for the protection of the dignity of women.

He urged the House to forward the process for the ratification of the bill and further making it refined. RSS
