KATHMANDU, June 29: National Paddy Day, popularly known as Asar 15, is being observed today across Nepal.
This day marks the beginning of the paddy planting season.Farmers throughout the hilly and Terai regions of Nepal are celebrating the day today.

Asar 15 holds unique national significance for the farmers of Nepal, a country where the economy is primarily based on agriculture. The month of Asar (mid-June to mid-July) is particularly favorable for paddy cultivation due to the rainy season.
The government has officially endorsed the tradition of celebrating Asar 15 as National Paddy Day (Dhan Diwas).
