National meet of National Federation of UNESCO Clubs begins

KATHMANDU, July 15: The national convention of National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations of Nepal kicked off from Saturday. 

Tribhuvan University Vice Chancellor Dr Tirtha Raj Khaniya inaugurated the event amidst a programme on Saturday. 

On the occasion he said the UNESCO campaign had a significant role to play in Nepal's education and culture. He said he was happy to see the active involvement of youth generation in the UNESCO. The UNESCO had supported poor and hapless students, he added. 

Nepal National Commission for UNESCO's secretariat secretary Chandra Kant Bhusal said they were always ready to work in the areas of education and culture in cooperation with the Federation. 

Federation founding general secretary Hiranyalal Shrestha said the UNESCO had its significant role in protecting cultural heritages in Nepal. 

A total of 155 representatives from 75 districts are taking part in the event. 

The convention will elect a 25-member new working committee, according to Federation chair Prem Narayan Aryal. RSS
