National consensus on statute amendment being forged: PM Dahal

KHOTANG, Nov 8: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the draft of the constitution amendment would be forwarded in the participation of the secretaries at the concerned Ministries and to the ruling parties' leaders. 

PM Dahal, who reached here in course of inspecting the Mid-Hills Highway, said that the government was working out to go for elections after amending the constitution. 

He ruled out the reportedly released draft of constitution amendment and stated that the news in this connection was unauthentic. PM Dahal further said that the constitution amendment draft process has just begun since Monday evening. 

PM Dahal shared the progress of the incumbent government claiming that the government was concentrating on forging national consensus, making the constitution acceptable to all after amending it, expediting the reconstruction projects and harmonizing bilateral ties with neighboring country. 

Similarly, Prime Minister Dahal added that national consensus was gradually in sight and the ruling and opposition parties were positively holding discussions on various issues. 

Stating that the government will hold discussions with the Madhesi, Tharu and indigenous representatives to find a ground for amending the constitution on the basis of national consensus, the Prime Minister assured that the incumbent government will take the country towards the election by uniting one and all. 

On the occasion, Local Development Officer Nishal Raj Pandey apprised the Prime Minister of development endeavors undertaken in the district. 

On the occasion, Prime Minister Dahal received separate memorandums submitted by political parties and business community in the district putting forth various demands thorough the District Peace Committee. 

The PM took the opportunity to assure that he will do something meaningful for the people of Khotang during his tenure, directing the authorities concerned to complete the under-construction development projects on time. 

After his Khotang visit, he flew in to Sankhuwasabha. He was accompanied by Officiating Chief Secretary Tankamani Sharma and the Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. RSS
