KATHMANDU, May 26: The National Assembly has begun deliberations on the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year 2022/23. The policies and programs for the new fiscal year were presented by President Bidya Devi Bhandari before a joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 24.

In today’s session of the upper house of the federal parliament, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Govinda Sharma Koirala, on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, proposed to hold discussions on the government's new policies and programs.

Taking part in the deliberations, Bhairab Sundar Shrestha, Shekhar Kumar Singh, Bhagawati Neupane and Bimala Ghimire, who have suggested amendments to the policies, defended the amendment proposals.

They alleged that the recent local level elections were held in an unjust manner despite the government's claim that they were held in a peaceful environment. Amendments have also been sought regarding the government’s decision to exclude over 1,400 road projects introduced by the erstwhile government led by K P Oli. The deliberations on the policies and programs are still ongoing.
