CHITWAN, July 14: After the depression of a 17-km stretch of the Narayangadh-Mugling roadway, vehicular movement has been limited to one-way. Although the rut was filled with gravel on Monday morning, the depression continued last night, obstructing two-way vehicular movement.

Chief engineer at the Division Road Office, Chitwan, Krishnaraj Adhikari said that the two-way movement of vehicles was banned after the roadway continued depressing, causing risk.

The depression occurred within a year of the road expansion in 17 and 26 kilo areas.

The roadway has been pressed down by more than one feet. It is said the weakening of the anchor wall caused the road depression. The anchor wall was constructed sixteen years back.

The anchor wall was damaged by the Trishuli River. "If the road depression does not stop, it would pose further risks," Adhikari warned, adding that there is no place to dig on the inner side of the road because of the huge cliff.

Removal of debris on the roadway is continuous. The Narayangadh-Muglin road is a major roadway linking the Kathmandu Valley.
