NAC plane off to Australia

KATHMANDU, May 6: A plane of the Nepal Airlines Corporation left here today carrying 289 Australian citizens for Australia.

The wide-body plane of the NAC was hired for a chartered flight by the Australian Embassy in Nepal.

It also included some citizens from neighboring New Zealand.

The aircraft will land in Sydney via Malaysia and return back to the Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday evening. This is the second NAC chartered flight to Australia.

Earlier, it had carried Australian citizens to Brisbane on April 1. Meanwhile, another wide-body aircraft of the NAC is leaving for Beijing, the capital of China this evening. It has also been hired for a chartered flight by private businesspersons to bring in essential medical supplies.

Also today, an aircraft of Himalaya Airlines brought medical supplies from Guangzhou of China today. The narrow body aircraft came back with 6,600 kgs worth of medical supplies, according to the TIA sources.

This is the third time that the Himalaya Airlines aircraft has been used to bring in medical supplies from China.
